West Midland Bird Club Archives
This page provides readers an e-form facility to view and research historic works concerning West Midland Bird Club activities and ornithological events occurring within the Club region. Availability of material will obviously dictate the extent of this page and any relevant works of historic importance will be placed here.
A main objective of this page is to feature the provision of a full set of digitised West Midland Bird Club Annual Reports, commencing with the first report from 1934 and continuing with an unbroken sequence to a copy preceding the current issue. The Clubs annual report is a historic review of the birds that occurred in our region during a particular year and is therefore an important reference document.
The production of these reports involves a specialised scanning process that enables the books to be preserved in tact; an operation of considerable importance when dealing with unique and often fragile material. Compiling these reports has involved the use of copies in Club possession together with those provided through the generosity of members. The Club wish to make it known that they are extremely grateful to those who donated their personal copies for use in the process of digitising the reports. Many of these reports are from used stock and bear the marks of being 'well thumbed' a distinguishing quality that adds to the overall authenticity of their years of providing valuable information on a strictly personal level.
Please enjoy this facility.
Sequence of reports:
Numbers 1 to 69 inclusive are those that have been scanned/digitised from old reports using the process that enables the books to remain in tact, this has been carried out by the company 'Pearl Scan Solutions' who specialise in such work. From No. 70, Annual Reports have been digitised as part of the production of the report. This digitised version, in the form of a PDF, has been made available to our annual report editor David Emley by our printers, who are currently Swallowtail Press.
